Tuesday 6th September 2011

Finally a full night’s sleep ... needed it.

I planned a quite day today following the trip to Terceira and as a matter of fact i walked to the department ... stayed there till 5pm ... and walked back from a different route back home stopping at the supermarket.

The department was closed when i got there before 9am and so had nobody to say ‘Bom Dia’ to but as the other people in the open space where my desk is situated i still welcomed them with an ‘Ola’ or just a ‘Dia’ ...

Had three visits at my desk ...

First came the lady who coordinated the boat trips ... Paola Lorinho ... and asked me to sign the insurance papers which the department decided to pay for me. We spoke shortly about the trip and back and reassured me that she’ll be in touch if there’s something else.

Early afternoon Jorge Fendes stopped by. This guy coordinated the diving activities and so it was good to have a chat and keep in contact with the guy as to join them on some diving trips especially one trip i am after to the Princess Alice diving site some 3hrs boat away (45km) from Horta, and where Mantas are very commonly seen. We exchanged emails and promised him that i will draft a short report about the possibilies of DOP having Nitrox blending facilities.

Finally, Marcus came over to have a chat. He had a haircut since yesterday and was very nice of him to come check where i was at. The trip to Terceira helped establish a small friendship even though its not easy to strike a friendship with rigid German characters.

The walk back via the marina was hot as usual but a nice breeze was blowing even though it meant that the sea was getting rougher ... something which Jorge had referred to today. Stopped by at the supermarket and spent €6 this time ... butter, milk, noodles, half-dozen eggs, baked beans and cup cakes.

As soon as i got home had to shower but quickly got to the kitchen as i needed to eat something. So i decided to have a slice of toast with cheese and a poached egg while i prepared the main meal ... maccaroni cheese J

Plated ... switched TV on in the living room ... and enjoyed the food. Some orange squash to wash it down, and 2 gums to seal it all. Washed the dishes and wiped all that was on the drain board ... finally switched TV off and climbed to my bedroom to write the blog.

Tea at 8pm accompanied by the usual 2 digestives ... and prepared for an early night as i watched some more TV.

Switched TV off, open the window ajar for some breeze, checked that Monte da Guia is still there and slept shortly afterwards ...
