Miscellaneous

Here is the cat hiding behind HER box ... under HER table ...

She is very playful, sweet and needs cuddles ... as soon as she hears me she quickly joins me any time of the day.

This is Monte da Guia again early in the morning from my bedroom window ... at the back of the house. Even though i'm relegated to the back bedroom i have nothing to complain ... the views are breath taking.

This is where i had my first dive ... something i mentioned in the second blog and which i also showed photos in yesterday's blog as i went walking on Monte da Guia ... The immersed craters are called Caldeirinhas .... well the Caldera is the actual mouth of the volcano ... a bigger one inland is still to be visited. The Caldeirinhas are protected as different species live there and mate ... the outer one is 25m deep and we dived on its rim ... while the other one is only 6m deep so divers would damage the fauna there for sure.

On my way to the department i see Pico from a distance wearing different cloud formations ... some days its a scarf ... today its a cap :)

This is the department of Oceanography and Fisheries where i'm based ... it used to be a hospital. Right infront is a nice public garden and tower clock ... see below ...

The tower clock ... which has bells as well ...

This is the vessel i will be on as from tonight for some 5 days. Its called ARQUIPÉLAGO and is 25.5 m long. It was designed and built in Spain specifically for Oceanographic and Fisheries research. The bridge equipment includes a Sonar, Echo Sounders, Plotter, Facsimile, GPS, Radio Communications, Radar, Automatic pilot, Gyro, Fire detection system, "Dead-man" Alarm, Meteorological station and an internal CCTV.

Finally, an aerial shot of Horta ... with some labels of what i have been talking about ... you can also see the path on top of Monte da Guia ...
