... second week coming to an end

... and with this thought i made my way to the department as usual in the morning after a light breakfast and a bag holding all that i need. Doesn’t make a difference really if its a week day or a weekend i will be back to the department in the next upcoming days if nothing turns up.

An important task i wanted to sort as soon as i get to the department was to be able to print as i needed desperately to proof read the Nitrox report and make corrections ... fix it ... and pass on to Jorge. This task had to be performed early, as i usually walk in, as not to have anybody around and so could check which printer is networked on my same patch.

I could see 2 printers, one which i managed to install was on the groundfloor inside the finance office ... not of much help as i wasn’t going to bother them with my prints and had no way to get into their office. The second printer i also managed to install and was situated on the second floor, just below my floor, and said ‘corridor ala nord’ ... fantastic its that printer i see on my way up as the open space i’m at is on the north wing as well.

Alt-f ... p ... to print. Selected the 2nd floor printer ... actually uninstalled the one on the groundfloor to be sure not to have printouts with my name on them in someone else’s office ... and sent my document to the ‘corridor’ printer. In 5 seconds i was standing next to it and i could hear it warming up and preparing to print ... fantastic ... and out they came all 18 pages ... in colour... wow! ... even better.

As i proof-read through it i had to add reference throughout, page numbers, and anything else which i had in mind and forgot to include within the report. Took me an hour to ensure that the report was complete on paper ... i just needed to get back onto Word and fix it.

The most time consuming part was finding all the references online, entering them into the Word references and finally generating the full list in APA style ... the final product was fantastic.

At around 1pm i generated the PDF version and was ready to dispatch to Jorge Fontes.

I was very releaved to get an email reply that he got it and will read through it, and so it meant that my plan to have it delivered before the weekend worked. Jorge also informed me that he will keep me posted should any diving crops up ... perfect!

Paola Lorinho or Paolinha, the lady who administers the vessels run by the department, had her birthday today and so a number of us were called down to the canteen area for a small get together to wish her happy birthday and have a piece of cake. Met Marcus there as well as he shares the office with her ... and has A/C as he always teases me ... and asked me if i wanted to join him and some others for a whale watching trip they were going to tomorrow at some reduced price for people working at DOP. Sure thing i thought and replied ... and so walked back to my desk to close down and go home as it was close to 5pm ... repeating to myself the meeting arrangments for tomorrow ... meet Marcus at 8am infront of his house which is 2 houses away from mine, and walk to the harbour right next to the diving hut ... must be there at 8.30am

As i walked home i wasn’t sure if i’d stop to get some bread but then thought that its wiser to stay without ... so walked straight home ... thinking of what to prepare for dinner.

Spaghetti al pesto Genovese should do ... and as i boiled the pasta i helped myself to few Galetti from an open packet i brought with me ... its running out but its amazing that it has lasted so long. Switched the TV on in the living room ... prepared an orange drink ... and set a plate and the strainer to house the pasta al dente.

After mixing in enough pesto into the spaghetti I enjoyed it while i watched TV ... brought a mini-magnum out of the freezer ... and rinsed it down with the orange drink. Washed the dishes ... cleared my stuff ... switched the TV ... and retrieved to my bedroom ... will do some reading.

Watched more TV rather than reading, but after some 2 hours went to the kitchen to have the final tea, 2 biscuits, 1 gum ... and ready to go to bed.

Was hot in the room but couldn’t open the window before all the lights & TV were off not to attract mosquitos who according to Marcus arrived to visit us last night after the heavy rain ... oh well.

Lights out ... window open ... clothes off ... off to sleep ... Good night.
